Hi there, I work with Harv and love your site. Your Hepatica looks very much like a Pulsatilla. After looking both up, I can't get a clear idea of the differences - can you tell me?
Pulsatilla is Pasque Flower which has long hairs on its stem and a purple flower.
Potentilla is Cinquefoil which has a longer stem but similar flower to mine. it is a much larger plant.
Hepatica (pictured) is Liverwort. Like Pasque Flower, it appears in early spring and then disappears. It's a very small plant and grows in the shade with Trilliums and Jack-in-the-Pulpit.
I live in downtown Toronto, Canada where I've built a little wilderness garden. My home includes four adults, one lovely Basset, Sophie, and three cats. Expect pictures!
